Making your own Roman blinds is a fantastically rewarding process which allows you to create stunning window dressings at a fraction of the cost. With a mixture of machine sewing and hand finishing, you'll gain some great construction techniques as you learn the full process, from measurments to stringing.
The day will be very flexible to allow everyone to work at their own pace. During the class we will cover the basics of:
Using your window measurements to decide the size of your blind
Planning your blind contstruction
Measuring, squaring and marking out your fabric
Blind construction with hand finishing
Attaching the blind to the cassette and stringing your blind
Sessions run from 10.30am to 4pm. Our classes are limited to six participants so every one has access to the space and support they need.
You will need to bring:
Please bring a length of Upholstery weight fabric 30cm longer than the blind you wish to make. You can make a blind up to 90cm in width and any length you wish (although very long blinds may require some hand finishing after the class). Please also bring the same amount of lining fabric and thread.
What's included:
Your blind making kit and cassette is included in the class price, full instructions and expert guidance will be provided throughout the course. Use of Janome sewing machines and all sewing equipment will be provided. (scissors, rulers, tape measures, pens, pencils). Tea, coffee and biscuits.
