Hi, I'm Clare
As well as running Miss Maker I enjoy teaching all aspects of dress making and textile art. I have always loved all things creative, especially anything to do with fabric and textiles.
My grandmother (pictured right wearing one of her creations), who was a brilliant seamstress,
provided inspiration for me throughout my younger life. She bought me my first sewing machine at the tender age of seven and a life long love affair was born.
The skills I learnt from her have stayed with me and throughout the years and I have expanded my interests across many forms of sewing, needlework, embroidery, dressmaking and machine sewing techniques.

Now with almost 40 years of sewing experience, I have a City & Guilds certificate in pattern cutting passed with distinction. I have studied Swim Wear and Lingerie construction at UAL, and I continue to develop my sewing and tailoring skills. I enjoy turning my hand to all forms of sewing, design, construction and textile art, learning through both official study and good old fashioned trial, error and practice.
When the opportunity came in late 2009 to take voluntary redundancy, I took it, deciding it was now or never to embrace my passion for creative sewing and spend my time enabling and inspiring others to do the same. Miss Maker has been running since 2011 delivering an ever expanding range of classes and workshops.
